Filters

Filters allow a block of text to be processed by another transformation tool before it becomes part of the generated document.

For example, a project can configure a Markdown filter and then write:

:markdown
  # Hello

This content is written in Markdown.

Filters are supplied through the template environment rather than being arbitrary JavaScript executed directly by the template.

Common integrations include Markdown and CSS or JavaScript transformation tools.

Custom filters

Applications can register their own filters when they need specialized processing.

Because filters execute during compilation, choose them carefully when templates contain dynamic content.
